How to Play Sudoku Mini

Sudoku Mini is a compact 6×6 version of the classic Sudoku game. Every row, column, and 2×3 box must contain the digits 1 through 6 exactly once. The smaller grid makes for faster games but still demands the same logical deduction techniques — naked singles, hidden singles, and occasionally pairs — that power full-size Sudoku.

Sudoku Mini Rules

1

Fill the 6×6 grid with digits 1 through 6.

2

Every row must contain each digit exactly once.

3

Every column must contain each digit exactly once.

4

Every 2×3 box must contain each digit exactly once.

5

Pre-filled cells (givens) cannot be changed.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Step 1

Start with the row, column, or box that has the most given digits — fewer empty cells mean fewer possibilities.

  2. Step 2

Use naked singles: if a cell can only contain one digit (all others are ruled out by row, column, and box), write it in.

  3. Step 3

Use hidden singles: if a digit can only fit in one cell within a row, column, or box, place it there.

  4. Step 4

Toggle notes mode to pencil in candidate digits for cells with multiple options.

  5. Step 5

When you solve a cell, immediately check if it resolves any neighboring cells.

Strategy & Tips

✏️

Pencil notes are your best friend — use them liberally to track candidates.

🔢

Focus on digits that appear frequently in the givens; they are easiest to place first.

👯

When two cells in a box share the same two candidates (a naked pair), eliminate those digits from other cells in the same unit.

Check your work after each digit — the green completion flash confirms a fully correct row, column, or box.

Difficulty Levels

The grid is always 6×6 with 2×3 boxes. Difficulty is controlled by the number of given digits and solving technique required.

Easy

About 18 givens. Solvable with naked singles alone.

Medium

About 14 givens. Requires hidden singles.

Hard

About 11 givens. Demands naked and hidden pairs.

Expert

Around 8 givens. Requires chains and advanced elimination.
